Major Diwali Gift for Farmers from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma
Farmers in entire Ajmer Discom to receive daytime electricity
220 kV GSS successfully commissioned at Birloka in Nagaur
Resolve to provide daytime electricity to farmers is gradually being realised
Jaipur, October 25: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has extended a major benefit to farmers ahead of Diwali. A 220 kV Grid Sub-Station (GSS) has been successfully commissioned at Birloka in Nagaur district. With this, farmers in all 14 districts served by Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam (Discom) will be able to receive electricity in two time blocks during the day. This arrangement will relieve farmers in the region from the need to irrigate their fields at night and make agricultural activities safer and more convenient.
Kheenvsar and Other Areas to Benefit
It is noteworthy that, until now, the arrangement for supplying electricity to farmers in two time blocks during the day had been implemented in 13 of the 14 districts served by Ajmer Discom. With the commissioning of the Birloka GSS, this facility will now be extended to the remaining part of Nagaur district as well. The project will benefit Birloka, Narwa, Hisaba, Panchla Sidha, Kheenvsar, Panchaudi, and the surrounding areas. In particular, it will strengthen the arrangement for providing electricity to farmers in two time blocks during the day across the entire Kheenvsar tehsil.
Reduction in Power Losses and Improvement in Supply Quality
Constructed at a cost of approximately ₹170 crore, the GSS is equipped with a 160 MVA, 220/132 kV power transformer. The use of an advanced SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system will facilitate better utilisation of solar energy generated in western Rajasthan in Nagaur district. This will also help reduce power losses and improve voltage levels, the quality of electricity supply, and supply reliability.
Farmers in 26 Districts of the State Now Receiving Daytime Electricity
Giving the interests of farmers the highest priority, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced a budgetary target to provide daytime electricity to farmers across the state by 2027. With committed efforts in this direction, farmers in 26 districts of the state are now receiving electricity during the day.
